I use Garmin's POI loader and GSAK to load thousands of geocaching POI's (points of interest) into the Garmin GPSmap 60CSx.  It is a neat trick that lets you use customer geocaching icons and have cache page details available on your GPSr.  I have been doing this for years...Until a few days ago!

invalid string position

This is the error message I received when the POI loader was transferring the data to the GPSr.  Nothing I did solved the problem.  Garmin technical support's suggestion was to just quit using the POI feature.  Since this was unacceptable, I finally used Google to search and develop a theory on how to fix the problem.

It seems that the newest version of Garmin's POI loader doesn't handle invalid string data well.  I finally installed an older version of the POI loader and the problem was solved.

Here is a link to a more detailed experience with Garmin's technical support and the solution to the problem:

There was a picture of 'ol Ozguff retrieving some of his. I think he said he had around 40 in Bent Creek alone.

There's probably 150 caches at Bent Creek. That would take some time to clean up!
